E3 2016, Day 1: Electronic Arts Announcements Recap!

E3 2016 is officially underway! Electronic Arts was first to take the stage, actually two stages in this case. EA started off their press conference by welcoming fans to not one, but two simultaneous press conferences being carried out in two separate locations. Andrew Wilson (CEO, EA) revealed that another press conference is also being held in the UK, hosted by EA's Chief Competition Officer Peter Moore.

Titanfall 2

Titanfall was released on March 11th 2014 for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. While that game introduced a new concept which captivated it's audience, it was clear that the game needed some extra polish as well as some more added features. Titanfall 2 could be the just that. Vince Zampella (CEO, Respawn Entertainment) revealed that Titanfall 2 will include an offline single player campaign alongside the unique online multiplayer mode Titanfall was known for. Furthermore, unlike it's predecessor, Titanfall 2 will also be made available on PlayStation 4.

Battlefield 1

In an age where first-person shooters strive to be the most futuristic, Dice has decided to do the exact opposite and fans loved what they had to show. The game had been announced ahead of time and had caused quite a bit of excitement among fans of the genre. Battlefield 1 also gets a new trailer showing off the WW1 first-person shooter's gameplay. Besides fighting on foot, players will also be able to take control of the various vehicles in the game including tanks, planes and blimps!

Mass Effect Andromeda

As the title suggests, the latest installment in the Mass Effect franchise will be taking place in the Andromeda galaxy. Although the beloved Commander Shepard is reportedly gone, there will be a slew of new characters including multiple new alien races in the game. The game's trailer also showed off the new spaceship, Tempest, which will probably be the players base of operations like the Normandy was in previous titles.

FIFA 17

FIFA 17 will reportedly feature greatly improved visuals thanks to the Frostbite engine. The game's systems have also been tweaked in order to deliver a more in-depth and realistic experience. Now this is a weird one for me. As an RPG/Action adventure fan, I've never been excited for a sports game before. FIFA 17, however, will include a single player story mode. This is quite interesting!

FIFA 17 will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 27th 2016.

Fe

This is quite an odd looking game. Looks like something you would expect from Media Molecule but with a darker colour pallet. The gameplay trailer shows the player in control of a creature exploring a forest. The creatures in the game supposedly communicate with music and as the player uses this means of communication to bond with other forms of life in the forest, it will unlock new areas for the player to explore.

Madden NFL 17 will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on August 23rd 2016.

A typical press conference, nothing too overwhelming. I'm quite excited to try out Titanfall 2 and find out what the single player campaign will be like. I'm also quite intrigued by the addition of a story mode in FIFA 17. Fe is also a pleasant little surprise that I look forward to learning more about along with the various Star Wars projects. All in all, decent press conference.
